The first American landing zone

0
Utah Beach, in the Manche department, was among the five landing beaches of June 6, 1944, along with Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword. American troops reached Norman soil on the beaches of Omaha and Utah, while British forces arrived via Sword and Gold. The Canadian soldiers, for their part, landed on Juno Beach. Utah Beach stretches from Sainte-Marie-du-Mont to Quinéville, and the main assault zone extended near Saint-Martin-de-Varreville. It constituted the first sector of the two US landing zones.
