0
In Rustrel in the Vaucluse department, the extraction of ocher began in 1871 and continued until 1992. The extraction was carried out in the open after the preliminary work of deforestation of the soil and removal of the sterile and ferruginous layers which covered the ore. The ocher deposits were then attacked with peaks and / or explosives. In 1925, the commune had twenty-two sites of extraction, they employed eighty-four workers who extracted 40,000 tons of ocher per year.
