The evolution of Dole within the kingdom of France
0
0
When it was definitively attached to the kingdom of France in 1678, Dole - formerly the capital of Franche-Comté - was relegated to the rank of small provincial town and lost its institutions (residences of the counts of Burgundy, parliament, etc.) at the same time as its fortifications. It then became a city of commerce and crafts (hemp, leather...) like here Rue Pasteur, before transforming into a center of mechanical industry and foundry from the nineteenth century.
