The Juno Beach Center honors troops who lost their lives in Operation Overlord during World War II. This cultural center of Canadian origin extends in the town of Courseulles-sur-Mer on the landing beaches of Normandy. In front of the entrance to the center, a 25-pounder cannon is on display. It constituted the most widely used piece of artillery by Commonwealth forces during the war and fired 25-pound projectiles at a distance of approximately 7.46 miles (12 kilometers).
