The Porte de Maguelone (Maguelone gate) marks the entrance to a virgin and preserved space. Upon arriving at the edge of the Maguelone Peninsula, visitors must leave their vehicles at a car park and cross a pontoon to reach the peninsula. The path is bordered by ponds on one side and natural and preserved areas on the other and leads by bike or seasonal train to the imposing Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul de Maguelone Cathedral. The fortress-church is a former Romanesque-style monument that hosted many popes and bishops in the Middle Ages.
