After the Second World War, the market for cast iron art collapsed in a generalized movement of rejection of classical ornamentation. In 1950, in order to diversify its production, the GHM foundry turned to urban lighting, then twenty years later, it launched into urban furniture. The company modernised its factories and produced street lamps, lampposts and tramway masts for Lyon, Nancy, Limoges and Orléans. For some years now, GHM’s contemporary urban ranges have been designed by designers. The moulding hall built in the 19th century by Antoine Durenne is still in use today.
