The various islands of Hyères Archipelago present particularly distinct aspects. The easternmost Levant is long and unvarying, with a steep ridge cut with ravines on its slopes. Protected to the northwest by the island of Bagaud, Port-Cros stands similar to a mountain in the sea with its summits and deep valleys. Finally, the island of Porquerolles (photo) alternates peaky reliefs and spacious plains with reddish soils.
