The desire of the bishop of Strasbourg
0
0
In 1324, the Horbourg house was without an heir. The County of Horbourg and the Lordship of Riquewihr were sold to Count Ulric X of Württemberg. However, part of it belonged to the bishop of Strasbourg. In 1333, the new bishop raised an army and besieged the city that surrendered from the first attack. Soldiers committed heavy looting of homes and cellars. Many highly prized casks of wine were requisitioned as war ransom and transported to the bishopric's cellars.
