The descent of the Orne by canoe or kayak between Pont d'Ouilly and Clécy via the viaduct of La Lande (photo) in the Calvados department is often used to discover the steep and green landscapes of Norman Switzerland, in the very heart of the valley of the Orne river. This 8.6 miles (14 km) nautical tour requires around four hours of navigation in the direction of the current, between 492 and 114 ft (150 and 35 m) above sea level. Different nautical bases rent boats, life jackets, paddles, and waterproof containers and transport the tourists to the starting point of the itinerary in Pont d'Ouilly. They then join at their own pace Beau Rivage Clécy where hot showers are available.
