Christophe Mege, the head gardener of the gardens of the International Museum of Perfumery of Mouans-Sartoux, selects himself the precious jasmine of Grasse (Jasminum grandiflorum) that serves as raw material for the manufacture of the jasmine absolute used by the great perfume houses. The morning harvest of the jasmine flowers in summer is delicate and requires significant dexterity to pick the flower without damaging it. One must first select the mature flowers and then separate them from the foliage and the stem by turning the hand a quarter of a turn without touching the bud flowers. An expert in the cultivation of perfume plants, Christophe Mege masters the patient one by one selection of the mature flowers.
