The Côte Fleurie (Flowery Coast) runs along the English Channel from Merleville-Franceville to the Seine estuary at Honfleur. It is the cradle of seaside tourism, which experienced its golden age at the beginning of the 20th century and has never stopped. The region houses the most renowned sandy beaches and resorts of Normandy like Deauville, Trouville, Houlgate, and Cabourg. The Côte Fleurie owes its name to the President of the Horticultural Society, Raymond Coustant d'Yanville, who invented it in 1903.
