The horse's neck is supported by the seven cervical vertebrae which unite its head to its dorsal spine and is made up of two large muscle groups : the extensor muscles (located above the spine) and the flexor muscles (located below the spine). It is short, straight and particularly muscular in the Comtois horse, widely used for the draft.
