The common frog's life cycle

The common frog or green frog (Pelophylax kl. Esculentus) merges with the leaves of water lilies on which it is often perched in the sun and on the lookout for its prey. During its periods of activity, from spring to summer, its very loud song can frequently be heard in the evening and at night. The green frog spends winter at the bottom of the water in the mud, in the ground, or under a shelter. The batrachian has a life expectancy of about five years.
