Cocconerion balansae - commonly called 'bloodwood' in New Caledonia because of its blood-red sap collected here by Bernard Suprin on his finger - is reminiscent of the logwood (Haematoxylum). This species, introduced to Païta as a fodder plant then become invasive in the VKP region (Voh, Koné, Pouembout) of the north of Grande-Terre, also produces a coloring sap called haematin.
