The chesnut, a Corsican cultural and heritage
Northeastern Corsica, Castagniccia takes its name from an omnipresent tree in this very forested and well-irrigated area: the chestnut tree (“castagnu” in Corsican). The inhabitants have transformed chestnut for generations into flour and cream, and have used it in many recipes such as bread, biscuits, and beer.
