The Place de l'Hôtel de Ville in Aix-en-Provence extends at the confluence between the episcopal and count districts of the city. The square has three emblematic elements, including the town hall rebuilt between 1655 and 1678 and the former Halle aux Grains (1754) that today houses a post office and a library. The monumental fountain from 1756 surmounted by a Roman column served as zero point for the organization of the districts of the historic center of Aix-en-Provence.
