The Catholic church of Sainte Marguerite

Built during the 12th century, the church of Riquewihr gradually threatened to collapse. It was destroyed and replaced in 1852 by two churches: the Protestant Church of Sainte Marguerite and the Catholic Church of Sainte Marguerite, outside the ramparts. The Catholic monument holds a neo-classical high altar flanked by two kneeling angels and a smaller one dedicated to Saint Joseph. Of simple design, the church is, however, adorned with sculpted groups such as the baptism of Christ or the Virgin of Piety. An organ made by the Alsatian family Stiehr in 1853 surmount its entrance.
