The castle of Württemberg
0
0
In 1324 Count Ulrich of Wurtemberg acquired the lordship of Riquewihr and its old castle. An administrative building, the chancellery, is constructed in 1575 in its courtyard. Like all the properties of Württemberg in Alsace, the castle was placed under sequestration by the King of France between 1723 and 1748. It remained unoccupied during this period. It was sold in 1794 as national property and finally acquired in 1861 by the municipality of Riquewihr, which installed the village school there.
