The capital of the first Dukes of Normandy

Fécamp has been labeled a Ville d'Art et d'Histoire (City of Art and History) since 1992. The coastal town was the capital of the first Dukes of Normandy and now houses the ruins of the Palais Ducal and the Gothic abbey of the Sainte-Trinité (Holy Trinity). The Notre-Dame-du-Salut chapel is still a place of maritime devotion, and Fécamp perpetuates the memory of the Newfoundland sailors and the tradition of herring smokehouses. Each year, it brings together sailing boats of yesteryear and today to celebrate the sea for five days.
