The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (W198) Butterfly is a two-seater coupe and convertible automobile model. It was designed by Friedrich Geiger, marketed from 1954 to 1963, and gradually became a cult. Its doors' shape was called butterfly doors, Flügelturen or gull wings. It is considered the most emblematic Mercedes model produced after World War II for its originality, its technical and aesthetic qualities. A specimen is visible at the Cité de l'Automobile in Mulhouse.
