The Blue Lorikeet
The Blue Lorikeet (Vini peruviana) is a small bird without sexual dimorphism entirely dark blue except for its cheeks, throat and base of the chest which are white. Its beak and legs are bright orange. It is found in the coconut groves of the atolls free of black rats, its main predator. It feeds on tohonu (Tournefortia argentea), haari (Cocos nucifera) and tafano (Guettarda speciosa) flower nectar.
