The benefits of the draught horse
1
1
The draught horse, thanks to the inter-weeding tools mounted on the ploughs, allows mechanical weeding of the soil. The soil thus gathered at the foot of the vines smothers the grass competing with the vines. Many organic farms, such as Maison Marguet in Ambonnay in the Marne department, use it in conventional farming. The animal replaces the use of the tractor and eliminates the problem of soil compaction. With horse ploughing, the soils are more ventilated and less dependent on water, with a biological activity 40% higher than those worked with machines.
