The beekeeper's smoker
0
0
A smoker is a tool composed of a tank, a spout, and a bellows and used to create smoke that the beekeeper momentarily sprays over the bees while inspecting the hive and collecting honey. Its ignition must be quick and easy, the fuel must be of good quality to delay the extinction of the fire, and the smoke produced must be abundant and cold. In addition to creating a diversion by simulating a fire in the hive, the smoke helps mask the pheromones of the guarding bees that stand at the hive doors and which, in case of danger, give off a smell of venom to alert the entire colony.
