The background of Rugby in France
0
0
Rugby is an old sport whose rules have changed countless times. It originates in Great Britain around 1850 although the exact date or origin of the game is impossible to determine. Imported into France by the English, the first rugby club was founded in Le Havre by two young British men in 1872. Two others were subsequently created in Paris: The Racing Club de France in 1882 and the Stade Français in 1883. The French Federation of rugby now gathers nearly 300,000 licensees.
