The Bacchantes vase

One of Lalique’s bestsellers is the Bacchantes vase in clear crystal. Created in 1927 by René Lalique, this vase is an ode to women. It is decorated with a ring of young priestesses of Bacchus, the god of wine and drunkenness in Roman mythology. They reveal their bare and lascivious curves in satin-finish crystal, evoking the fineness of skin texture, while the interplay of light breathes life and movement into the piece. The vase is melted in a cast iron mould and the crystal is pressed inside to fit the shapes. The clear and matte polishing completes the shine and harmony of the piece.
