The blue wildebeest calf is one of the most precocial newborn of the antelope species. Right after its birth, it is able to stand within five minutes, and to run only after ten minutes. These abilities are adopted to the migratory way of life of this species. At birth, the calf's coat is bright and has a fawn color.
