Inaugurated in 1731, the Asfeld Bridge is a daring cut stone construction made up of a single semicircular arch and topped by an ironwork cross on a stone pyramid. It crosses the medium bed of the Durance river at a height of 177ft (54.50m). This work, completely restored in 1987, allows the junction between the upper town of Briançon and the forts located on the left bank, in particular the defensive occupation of the Plateau des Têtes.
