The artillery of the grand bastion
0
0
The Haut-Koenigsbourg's weapons room has a whole collection of medieval armaments: Morgensterns, cannons, halberds, crossbows, swords. Bladed weapons from the end of the Middle Ages are also on display next to coats of arms linked to the castle's history. The artillery platform of the grand bastion exhibits copies of cannons from the 16th and 17th centuries. Small ramparts models stand alongside a large 17th-century specimen. Despite its defenses, the castle was destroyed by the Swedish armies during the Thirty Years' War.
