The Arinthod turning factories
0
0
At the start of the 20th century, woodturning was a highly developed craft throughout the ‘Petite Montagne’ of Jura. The Valouse valley alone had nearly two hundred woodturners. The Arinthod turning factories included several large buildings. The site had been bought around 1878 by Théodore Charpillon, a wholesaler in turning factories and a banker, who produced electricity there for Arinthod and had a first turning factory built, where he rented turning places. Robert Marichy continues to perpetuate this tradition and to share this know-how.
