The point of attachment of the sea wall of the port of Nice to the coast almost opposite the Rauba-Capéu War Memorial forms a first sector which houses a parking area and part of the ferry terminal to Calvi and Ajaccio in Corsica. A little further on, the dike protects the interior jetty and its freestone quay. Between the ferry terminal and the commercial port, roughly in its center, it has been used since 1937 as a support for the red Applevage n°14 lifting crane which weighs 83 tons, rises to 72 feet (22 m) and has a lifting capacity of 5 tons.
