The Alsatian identity

The Alsace Cultural Council (Kültüràt Elsàss) deals with all questions relating to the cultural and linguistic identity of Alsace, and its influence. The Commission has inaugurated in 2020 a major project, for the next three years, of reflection on a definition of Alsatian culture. It is, in fact, as French and German as it is partly Welche. It has also integrated various influences of old and new arrivals in the region. The identity of Alsace began to be defined when, in the 18th century, historians decided to write a regional history, and no longer just a patriotic one.
