In 2006, Victoria Island had a population of 1,875 inhabitants mainly distributed in two villages : Ikaluktutiak, on the southeastern coast in Nunavut, and Ulukhaktok, on the west coast in the Northwest Territories. With an area of 84,728sqmi (297,291km2) and a population density of 0.006 inhab./km2, each inhabitant of the island can peacefully enjoy vast snowy areas.
