When the masked moray opens its mouth, one can clearly see its numerous pointed teeth and fangs bent inwards. It has teeth including on the palate. Some species even have a second pair of pharyngeal jaws that can advance into the oral cavity when a prey is captured to grab it and carry it at once into the oesophagus.
