In the old renovated building of the Cité du Train, the emphasis is rather on the didactic aspect to explain the evolution mechanisms and technical progress, as well in steam, diesel as electric. A permanent exhibition entitled The quays of history features more than sixty locomotives from 1844 to the present day. The history of rail merges with that of France. Through the material and images presented at the Cité du train in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin), it is the evolution of French society that we can read in the background.
