Off-piste skiing requires both good technical skills in alpine skiing and a strong mountain experience to be able to handle the variability of the snow conditions encountered (powder, crusty, hard, muddy, heavy, spring snow, etc.) and of the terrain (valley, forest, steep slope, corridor, etc.). Off-piste skiers must therefore be able to demonstrate solid skills, a great versatility and a good physical resistance.
