The Tawahkas live on the banks of the Patuca river. They are the smallest indigenous group in Honduras. They are distributed in 7 different villages, of which Krausirpe is the most important: Parawasito, Kosmako, Yapuwas, Parawas, Kamakasana, Krautara and Krausirpe. They practice a very diversified subsistence agriculture along the banks of the river.
