The 'tane' (men) are shirtless and often tattooed. The 'vahine' (women) cover their breasts with leaves or cloth or wear bras made of polished coconuts or mother-of-pearl. The skirts of the men are shorter. Like the women, they wear a neutral color headpiece made from braided vegetal fibers trimmed with shells.
