The cheetah’s spine is very flexible : it winds or unwinds to allow it to jump from 19.6 to 26.2ft (6 to 8m) while running. Its semi-retractile claws do not fit completely into their sheath and serve as crampons. Its long tail serves as a rudder in the curves it at full speed.
