Cutters and ornamentation of stones

As the Guédelon site evolved, new tools appeared. This is the case, for example, of the cutters used for the ornamentation of the most decorated stones such as those of the twin windows of the aula of the seigniorial dwelling inspired by the architecture of the dwelling of the castle of Crépy-en-Valois. Intended to ennoble the facade of the abode, each of the windows is made up of fifty-seven molded or sculpted cut stones. A prototype was first fully decorated and assembled on the ground in the courtyard of the castle to be presented in detail to visitors. The other windows were built on-site on the first floor of the dwelling.
