Root system of the rhizophores
1
0
The roots of the rhizophores form an aerial network entangled over several square meters around the trunks. They start from the trunks or other roots in a succession of arches of relatively uniform diameter which further ramify. Their emerged parts carry numerous lenticels which allow the entry of air towards the deep tissues as well as the exchanges of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
