Eguisheim is a typical Alsacian village renowned for its half-timbered houses, its ramparts, and the castle of the Counts rising on its central square. The small cobbled streets are lined with typical houses and the shops display forged-iron signs as in medieval times. The municipality is surrounded by hills covered with vineyards and is overlooked by three dungeons watching over it. Located on the Route des Vins (Wine Route), the village benefits from a unique wine-growing activity inherited from Roman times.
