The Eiffel Tower is the symbol of France in the world and the showcase of the city of Paris. With almost 7 million visitors per year – of which about 75% are foreigners – the tower is the most visited paying monument in the world. Located on the left bank of the Seine in the 7th arrondissement of the capital, it is situated on the Champ-de-Mars esplanade, at the level of the Pont d’Iéna, which leads to the Trocadero gardens. This 300-metre high puddled iron tower – 330 metres high today with the antennas – was completed on 31 March 1889 for the World Fair, which celebrated the centenary of the French Revolution.
