Swing dogs are often promising, learning young dogs. Positioned in the team just behind the leaders or lead dogs, they assist them in leading the convoy and maintaining its rhythm. They are dogs which are destined to be placed at the head of the team in a relatively near future and who are learning the responsibilities of this pole position. They are already showing the determination necessary for lead dogs.
