Such an aerial shot over the Saint-Tropez peninsula gives pride of place to its southern part, between the localities of Ramatuelle and La Croix-Valmer. In the center, the medieval village of Gassin is perched at 659 ft (201 m) above sea level on a hill of the Massif des Maures. It is surrounded by an environment of Mediterranean forests as well as, in the plain, vineyards and olive groves. In the background, the city of Saint-Tropez extends nestled at the bottom of the eponymous gulf, near Sainte-Maxime.
