The Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Brotherhood of Knights of the Wine-Tasters) has occupied the castle of Vougeot since 1944. It stands in the middle of 126 acres (51 ha) of vines shared between 80 owners. The Brotherhood participates in the international promotion of Burgundy wines and its gastronomy by organizing meetings and highly solemn inductions. Prestigious plots adjoin that of Clos de Vougeot such as the great wines of Romanée-Conti, Chambertin, or Musigny. The castle and its Renaissance architecture were listed as a Historical Monument in 1949.
