Along an ancient Roman road

Saint-Lazarus Chapel in Gorbio stands at the start of the current GR 52, which is particularly popular with hikers. This long-distance footpath connects Gorbio, Sainte-Agnès, and Sospel from La Turbie. It corresponds to an ancient axis already in use in Roman times and known as the Herculean Way. This first access road to the village of Gorbio, in the Alpes-Maritimes department, has since been renamed Chemin du Doyen Pierre Rochard.
