On the site of the former Roman city

North of the historic center of Aix-en-Provence in the Bouches-du-Rhône department is the Saint-Sauveur district that occupies the site of the ancient Roman city and stretches from the eponymous cathedral to the clock tower of the town hall. The bell tower of the cathedral, completed in 1425 and visible in the background, dominates the neighboring apartment buildings. Located in Rue Gaston de Saporta, the cathedral was built on the site of the ancient forum from the 12th century and has undergone many changes and additions over time.
