Natura 2000 sites are thoroughly supervised in terms of biodiversity and habitats. Human interactions with nature on Lake Madine are hence monitored so as not to harm its fauna and flora. Its waters are classified as an Important Zone for the Conservation of Birds (ZICO), with more than 250 recorded species. Though it welcomes a leisure park and a port, the lake has set up numerous tranquility areas for the birds to rest and nest, forbidden to access for the public.
