Suited to the practice of white water sports

The quality and power of the waters of the Guil through Queyras have allowed the development of white water sports, making this torrential river and its gorges a European hotspot for kayaking, rafting, hydrospeed, etc. The departures, possible from Aiguilles when the flow is sufficient, usually take place at the foot of Château-Queyras fort. White water sports enthusiasts can then descend the Guil for about 9.3 miles (15 km) to the Maison du Roi dam lake.
