Bird with diurnal activity, the Yellow-billed Hornbill is best noticed in the cool early morning, late afternoon and evening. At nightfall, it perches in trees. It is able to establish quite close relationships with other species such as dwarf mongooses taking advantage of their presence to capture fleeing locusts in exchange for a sentinel service and warning when predators approach.
